Wealthy Theatre: Revolutionizing Historic Preservation in NY!

This week, our own Wealthy Theatre Director - Erin Wilson - is in NY, attending the League of Historic American Theatres 35th Annual National Conference. He's also presenting at two major sessions about the revolutionary greening initiatives CMC has designed in the groundbreaking Wealthy Theatre Centennial Sustainability Campaign. $7,500 gift from WM 100 Strong!

West Michigan 100 Strong recently awared $7,500 to Community Media Center's Wealthy Theatre, as part of the WT Centennial Sustainability Campaign!

Every quarter year, a group of 100 individuals band together as West Michigan 100 Strong, to vote on three final "contenders" for a gift to a nonprofit cause. In June, CMC / Wealthy Theatre made the cut and presented a request live, in person, in front of the group's members.

GVSU Students present 'Act On Racism'.

Jennifer Stewart, Ph.D., from the department of Socialogy at GVSU, contacted our office a few months back.  She wanted to use the Peter Wege Auditorium for a production to be put on by GVSU students - a 'theater of the opressed,' she said.

She clarified: Brazilian Augusto Boal first refined techniques of the "Theater of the Oppressed" in the 1950's. Boal used this type of theatre as means of knowledge and transformation of reality in the social and relational field.  The audience becomes active, such that as they explore, show,...
