Furniture City History Website

The CMC IT Team is proud to announce the launch of the new website for Grand Rapids Historical Commission - Furniture City History. The popular History of Grand Rapids website ( found that the amount of historical material specifically for furniture warranted a creation of a sister site -  the Furniture City History website.

Focus on Issues: Need For Safe Residences For Those Rescued From Sex Trafficking

Focus on Issues #58  Guests Andy Soper, Founder and Project Coordinator of the Manasseh Project, which is an outreach ministry of Wedgwood Christian Services dedicated to ending the sexual exploitation of young men and women in West Michigan and Julia Koch, Director of Development and Advocacy for the Hope Project in Muskegon.  They discuss the need for safe residences for those rescued from sex trafficking and provide information about recent developments and advocacy needs as legislation passes through the Michigan Legislature.

Bliss for GR - Parks Millage

Commissioner Bliss speaks with Mark Miller of Neighbors for parks, pools, and playgrounds (NP3) about Grand Rapids' upcoming ballot proposal for a millage to fund improvements in city parks.
'It is proposed that Section 18 (e) of the City Charter be amended to authorize a new millage of up to .98 mills for 2014 through 2020, to be used for City-owned parks, pools, and playgrounds, which will raise an estimated $4,000,000 in the levy's first year.'
