The CMC IT Team is happy to announce the launch of the all new HistoryGrandRapids.org, the online archive of the Grand Rapids Historical Commission. A long time client, and partner on other projects, the Commission decided it was time to update the site we had built for them years ago, and update we did. The CMC IT team recently worked with the Arena District to provide voting via text message at the finale of GR's Got Talent, a brand-new, multi-day talent competition that seeks to find and showcase the best performers in West Michigan.
Using a service called Twilio, we were able to have attendees at the show send a simple text message with an act's name and the website was able to keep track of all of the votes. We also decided to keep people from voting for the same act more than once, but still allow them to vote for other acts....
Someone nominated CMC as a worthy and deserving nonprofit organization for the Chase Bank Community GIving program. We are truly honored! That designation alone means we will receive $1000 from Chase Bank. Now we are included in the public voting phase, where based on votes, Chase will award a total of $5 million dollars to be split among the top vote getting organizations. Grants will range from $10k to $250,000.
