Welcome to the CMC

The Education department has been extremely busy this summer offering a series of video and animation camps running from the middle of June through the month of July. We are in the middle of preparing a premier screening of the campers’ creations. Join us at the Koning Micro Cinema on Wednesday, August 10 at 6:30pm for a screening that includes stop-motion animation, pixilation, music creation and digital storytelling.

The CMC IT department is proud to announce the launch of the Grandwich competition website, sponsored  by the Downtown Alliance.

The Grandwich competition is a battle between area restaurants, delis, cafes, bakeries, etc. to create a sandwich that wins exclusive rights to being the official sandwich of Grand Rapids, or "Grandwich".  This sandwich will be synonymous with Grand Rapids, putting GR on the culinary map with the cheesesteaks and Chicago dogs.

This week, our own Wealthy Theatre Director - Erin Wilson - is in NY, attending the League of Historic American Theatres 35th Annual National Conference. He's also presenting at two major sessions about the revolutionary greening initiatives CMC has designed in the groundbreaking Wealthy Theatre Centennial Sustainability Campaign. West Michigan 100 Strong recently awared $7,500 to Community Media Center's Wealthy Theatre, as part of the WT Centennial Sustainability Campaign!

Every quarter year, a group of 100 individuals band together as West Michigan 100 Strong, to vote on three final "contenders" for a gift to a nonprofit cause. In June, CMC / Wealthy Theatre made the cut and presented a request live, in person, in front of the group's members.
