Storeytown: A Benefit for the Family of Drew Storey
Posted: 11/13/2009

On Friday November 20th, at 7:30 p.m., Community Media Center will host a special event called Storeytown: A Memorial Benefit for the Family of Drew Storey, at Wealthy Theatre. This evening will showcase some of Drew’s film and written and work, as well as a celebration of the things he loved and silent auction.
Drew died unexpectedly in October, 2009. The Storeytown event is intended to raise money for Drew’s wife (Danielle) and daughters (Madison Carol and Taylor Teagan).
The event will feature remembrances from friends and family, indie video shorts Drew created, some excerpts of live theatre Drew reviewed or admired, song, and a silent auction.
The suggested donation (at the door) is minimum $8.
Storey previously worked as a freelance columnist for Revue Magazine in Grand Rapids. He also spent three years as a reporter for the weekly Advance Newspapers covering local news. He was a 2002 graduate of Central Michigan University.
Most recently, Drew worked as The Rapidian’s content facilitator, having many of the responsibilities typically assigned to a newspaper editor - looking over pieces, curating the site’s front page, and mentoring new reporters. Drew’s quiet dedication to free speech and community expression became the rock on which much of The Rapidian’s philosophy is based.
CMC has created a hashtag for Twitter users who Tweet about this event: #storeytown - kindly include it if you could! And look for more information on Facebook: just search for Storeytown.
