Each weekday at 8:30am and 5:30pm we bring you our new Artist of the Day segment. We'll share a track or two from some great artists in celebration of their new album, birthday, important anniversary, or Grand Rapids appearance. Or maybe just for fun!

WYCE family,

I am happy and sad to tell you that my tenure as station manager at WYCE is coming to an end.

I am happy because we have accomplished some pretty remarkable things in the eight years I’ve been in this position. When I started, we were an underpowered 7,000-watt station that barely reached the edges of Kent County. I was welcomed into a situation with a lot of duct-taped-together equipment, a less-than-rosy financial situation, and an unclear plan for what lay ahead. Meijer Gardens Summer Concerts: Conor Oberst with Dawes

Meijer Gardens Summer Concert Series and WYCE welcome Conor Oberst with Dawes - live in the amphitheatre, Thursday, July 31st.

Conor Oberst may be best known for his work with Bright Eyes, with whom he released 9 albums from the mid-90s to 2011. His new solo album Upside Down Mountain was released in May.

Oberst will be backed by Los Angeles, California folk rock band Dawes, who will also perform their original "authentically vintage" songs.
