After working at GRTV for over 16 years I've decided to step down from my current position to spend more time at home and with my children. My last day as video services manager is June 25th. I’ll be back each Thursday to help the administrative staff with paper work. When I started at GRTV we were in the basement of the Ryerson Library building and we were only GRTV. IT and Video Services along with WYCE were on the horizon but hadn’t been realized. It wasn’t long and WYCE joined us as we moved up in the world in February of 1997 to the second floor of the West Side Library. At that point I was still in the production department and worked until 10:00 pm most evenings assisting members on all the studio productions, editing and equipment checkout. I moved into programming in 1999. Back then we had to load tapes several times a day, every day. The only day someone didn’t come in to load shows was Christmas Day, just ask Ted. So many things have changed. Editing was setting in and out points on a tape to tape machine. We used to get many shows on ¾” tape (about twice the size of a VHS) and now we stick them on a thumb drive and carry them in our pockets. It’s been a wonderful experience working with all the members and various staff over the years. GRTV will always have a special place with me and I look forward to watching it change and grow even more.
