GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING MUSIC TO WYCE

About WYCE and Independent Music

WYCE is excited to be a significant catalyst for the broadcast of local, regional and independent music over the airwaves owned by our West Michigan community. Since January 2007, WYCE has added an average of 11 full length regional and local albums a month to our library. The WYCE organization is proud to be the curators of a collection of 1300 regional releases, submitted by you over our past 20+ years of existence. Here’s a list of links to regional artists aired on WYCE. http://www.grcmc.org/radio/local_artists.php

Music Submission Process

To submit your music for consideration of inclusion to the WYCE library, please follow the following submission guidelines:

  • Please submit your CD to WYCE in its final stage. Policy at WYCE requires that albums be submitted for consideration in their completed state. We’ve found that a finished product has considerably more impact with listeners and programmers, as compared to demos, advance copies, and electronic files. We feel that this policy allows for the maximum benefit for all involved. Due to the quantity of music we receive each week, we do not accept singles or cassettes, and we are unable to return materials sent to us.
  • Submit a one sheet biography / promotional pitch. Consider this to be your resume, introduction, and cover sheet to WYCE listeners. Try to convey the most essential info about your group, as well as other reviews, contact information, and web sites. One photo is recommended. Please mark all tracks that contain material that could be deemed offensive by our listeners, as defined by FCC standards. http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/obscene.html
  • Follow up. Send the album to the WYCE Music Director, and mark the package “Local” or “Regional.” The most effective way to confirm proper receipt and consideration of your album is via email. It is recommended that an artist send an email to the Music Director the day it is mailed, and then follow up within two weeks of submission. Once a response is received, please be patient. Due to the extreme volume of local and national releases in consideration at all times at WYCE, repeated contact can only delay the process.
