Additional services you may need
While the "Basic Usage" package an event covers minimal needs, such as a lecture, your event may require more. You can customize your usage to fit your needs, we have the equipment and expertise for almost any event imaginable. You can learn more about these "a la carte" options in the Additional Services section.
Why is Wealthy Theatre so inexpensive to use?
In short, we're a community venue: we're here to provide access, not to make a profit.
Because we provide expert technicians to operate our extensive inventory of equipment, we keep our insurance costs low. You add as many as you need, based on your event, at a rate of $50 per operator. (Basic events, such as a lecture, can get by with one operator in the Tech Booth). Because staff run events, you don't have to buy short-term liability insurance (which is a standard requirement at many venues). And for musicians and theatre groups, our premium sound upgrades are very inexpensively priced.
One way to look at pricing is per-seat: Wealthy Theatre usage costs between $1-$2/seat. Nonprofit organization rates are as low as 75 cents per seat, depending on the day.

Ticket-Sales Options
Ticket sales couldn't be any easier - we do it all for you. And your patrons will appreciate having a central outlet for buying tickets, for either the Main Theatre or Micro-Cinema.
Every event that charges admission (or accepts donations) will have all box-office and ticketing services managed by Wealthy Theatre. You can select either BASIC or PREMIUM box-office services.
BASIC BOX OFFICE: If you don't need advance purchases, the basic box-office package is "day-of" sales only (no printed tickets) with a staff person provided to open the box office one hour before your event. The surcharge for this option is a mere $0.50/attendee.
PREMIUM BOX OFFICE & TICKETING: The premium box-office package includes day-of sales, and includes so much more: you also get custom ticket design, ticket printing, and full pre-sales with will-call for your patrons who order by phone. "Pre-sales" include advance sales during regular box office hours, telephone sales, and credit-card sales. Advance sales can begin at any point before your event takes place: one week, one month, three months, etc. The surcharge for the Premium option is a mere $1/attendee.
THIRD-PARTY TICKET SALES: If you prefer to sell your own tickets, there is a $100 redirect fee, to waive the required Wealthy Theatre Box Office services. We'll provide info when patrons call/email/visit for information about tickets to your event. You'll also be able to use the east side of the foyer for day-of ticket sales. This surcharge ($100) will be added to your invoice.

Some Fine Print
Wealthy Theatre is owned and operated by the Grand Rapids Community Media Center (CMC) as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. Any person or organization wishing to use the services of this community theatre must be a member of CMC. Membership is open to all and has many benefits, with individual memberships available for $36 annually. Student and low-income discounts are available. Nonprofit organization memberships are available. If you or your organization are not members of CMC, and you wish to use the services of Wealthy Theatre or CMC Wealthy spaces, a membership fee will be added to your invoice.
A per-event lease of venue space assumes the lessee will conduct a single event. Any event which exceeds these parameters will incur additional fees on an hourly basis. Contracts for facility leases must be signed and a deposit of half the estimated lease fee is required to hold date(s). Additional charges are assessed based on the lessee's particular usage of the building. Lease fee must be paid in full three days prior to the event. The deposit is non-refundable. Please make all checks to the Grand Rapids Community Media Center.
All evening events require a security plan, to be approved by the director. Wealthy Theatre provides low-cost options for independently contracted event security. Some events may have lesser or greater security requirements, depending on a variety of factors, including the day of the week, the nature of the event, etc. Any security personnel provided by the tenant must be (a) self-bonded (b) self-insured and (c) approved by the theatre director, prior to the event.
CMC reserves the right to archive video recordings of events at Wealthy Theatre in our media library at 1110 Wealthy SE. A $25 discount on video recording is available to members who submit (in advance) an application to GRTV-25 or LiveWire-24 to have their DVD broadcast on either channel. The cablecast form is available on the GRTV website, by clicking the "television" button (top). For video recordings arranged to have lower-third graphics and end credits, the invoice must refelct the addition of this package, and the text must be received via email, at least ten days prior to event.
The Community Media Center may cancel any contract for misrepresentation and/or violation of Wealthy Theatre policies or any provision of the contract.
For more information, please call (616) 459-4788 x130.
Our staff will be happy to answer questions, set appointments for on-site planning, and provide more information about the lease process.
