Client Feedback

Information about last night's event is now up on our website and I've also posted a link to the Award page from our Facebook page. Oh, and we added a photo gallery to Flickr and posted the set ID to the Event Photos page. I went from pre- to post-RHC on the website in about an hour, including waiting for the photos to upload to Flickr and figuring out what I wanted to write about the Award winners.

Every time I have to do these updates I marvel at how easy the system is. Thanks for all your help.

Get Started

GRTV classes are, for the most part, introductory in nature. Low-cost certification classes provide producers with an understanding of GRTV rules, the equipment, and video production fundamentals. To register for GRTV certification classes you must have an active Community Media Center membership. Registrations are accepted on a first-come basis and members are encouraged to register early since class sizes are limited.

Classes Offered

See the Education section for class dates, times and descriptions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I become a GRTV Producer?

A: To become a GRTV Producer, you first need to visit the Community Media Center and tour GRTV with a staff member, at which time you will also receive an overview of the services the Community Media Center provides. We refer to this as an orientation. After taking Orientation and becoming a member, you can take various certification classes that enable you to use particular types of equipment. See the class schedule.

Q: How much does it cost to become a CMC member?

A: CMC membership ranges from $24-$72. We offer several different membership packages based on your situation.

For more information on becoming a CMC member, including pricing, see http://www.grcmc.org/whyjoin.

Q: How much do certification classes cost?

A: We strive to offer the best equipment at non-inhibitive rates. Most classes cost only $20 for members and are only a single three-hour session, unless otherwise listed.

Q: How do I register for classes?

A: Please call the CMC Receptionist to sign up for classes at 459-4788 ext. 100 or register in person at CMC Bridge Street. You must pay for classes at the time of registration. All registrations are first come, first served.

Q: How do I reserve equipment?

A: Equipment reservations are made for certified GRTV Producers by contacting the GRTV Operations Assistants either in person or by calling 459-4788 ext. 117.

Q: How do I get my program on air?

A: You can submit a pre-produced program or a program that you created using GRTV equipment by filling out an Application for Cablecast Form. Drop off your program at CMC Bridge Street with the Application for Cablecast Form and it will be scheduled to play back on air.

Q: Once I've turned in my video and Application for Cablecast Form, how long will it take before my show airs?

A: Approximately 2 weeks. You will be contacted with show times by email or a telephone call.

Q: How many times will my show air?

A: On average, shows are scheduled to play four separate times.

Q: What video formats does GRTV use?

A: GRTV plays DVD, MiniDV, and DVCAM. We no longer accept programming on VHS or S-VHS.

Q: Can I make a promo for my show?

A: Yes! Most promos are 30 seconds and will be scheduled to air on GRTV.

Q: Does GRTV have volunteer opportunities?

A: Yes. There are a variety of volunteer opportunities for certified individuals in the studio or mobile productions that require larger crews. To start, click the "volunteer" tab above.

Q: Does GRTV have internship opportunities?

A: Yes. If you are a student, GRTV offers production internships based on the academic calendar. Interns work on staff-produced programs and create short documentary-style videos. Contact the CMC Education Coordinator for more information.

A: Click here to see a map of GRTV's coverage area.
